Festival Zanfan (2022)

The second Festival Zanfan, held during the month of June, celebrated the talents of the children of Seychelles as well as gave them a platform for them to share their views and opinions.

Les Zanfan reste Zanfan was the chosen theme and the key articles from the Convention of the Rights of the Child promoted this year were:

Article 13 Children have the right to share freely with others what they learn, think and feel by talking, drawing, writing or in any other way unless it harms others

Article 19 Government must protect children from violence, abuse and neglect by anyone who looks after them

Article 31 Every child has the right to rest, play and to take part in cultural and creative activities.

NCC worked with various partners to deliver a diverse and stimulating programme which catered for a wide group of children ranging from toddlers to post-secondary students. Children from all walks of life contributed or participated in the festival this year. The smiling faces and excitement seen at the Moutya, Rakontaz Zistwar, Konkour Diskour, Variety Show and traditional sports events held on Mahe and Praslin brought joy and happiness to many of us. The more serious debate held in the courts in the presence of a practicing judge and lawyers from the Attorney General’s Office opened many avenues for the young people and provided them with an experience which many said they would cherish for life.

Our thanks to the children, schools, the Ministry of Education and all the different organizations and officers who helped make the festival a success by their commitment and dedication towards children. Our thanks to all the staff from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Family and Local Government, the Department of Culture and the Creole Academy for their support and assistance. Our sincere thanks to Mr Finesse and to all the staff from NCC Headquarters and President’s Village for their contribution and efforts shown during the planning and delivery stages. It is their hard work and commitment that made the 2022 Festival Zanfan fun, enjoyable and memorable.
