About Us

Welcome

The National Council for Children (NCC) is governed by the NCC Act (Revised 1991, Amended 1999). The NCC is committed to promote professional and effective interventions for the protection and safety of children so that they can realise their full potential in a society, which respects their rights and dignity, as laid down in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which has been ratified by the Government of Seychelles.

NCC is also responsible for undertaking research to inform policy formation as well as advise the government on matters relating to children and their families.

The President’s Village is another branch of NCC based at Port Glaud, on the Island of Mahe. This residential care home facility has the mandate of caring for vulnerable children of Seychelles.

We provide support to diverse groups of stakeholders, including the following:

  • Children;
  • Parents and families;
  • Care-givers in childcare establishments;
  • The community and the general public;
  • And external partner, donor agencies and non-governmental organizations, including international organizations.

Our Vision

Our Mission

Our Values

Ensure all the children of Seychelles have a safe and healthy childhood and that their rights are respected and protected.

To always put children at the heart of what we do.

Guiding Principles

NCC is driven by the Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC) and therefore non-discrimination is a guiding principle of all NCC’s work. It strives to understand the root causes of the violation of the rights of the child and aims to influence institutions and social norms so that no child is left behind.

Equality is at the heart of everything NCC does. The Council works with, and offers support to children regardless of their background, ability or disability, age, creed, race, sexual orientation, gender or socio-economic status. It aspires to address inequalities and empower children.
